This seems to be the marriage of FIRE + FOMO. I do strive for FIRE, but since it is such a long journey (even if you are busting it) one should make an effort to enjoy the ride. For example, I’m about a third of the way to our house payoff (our self-imposed 7 year 3 month mortgage term), and even though that’s really short in terms of mortgages, having 4 years and some change left – seems like an eternity.

While I don’t plan to retire early, I do want to be able to work at my own leisure.
